Police in St. Paul have arrested a suspect after he fled the scene of a homicide and crashed his vehicle during the overnight hours on Sunday.

Officers were en route to the 700 block of North Victoria Street around 1:40 a.m. on Sunday when they spotted a driver leaving the scene "at a high rate of speed," with the driver crashing close by, on the 700 block of Englewood Avenue.

That driver has been determined to be a suspect in a shooting that left a man dead at an apartment complex on the 700 block of North Victoria Street. There, officers found the victim suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Despite efforts to save his life by police and paramedics, the victim was pronounced dead at the scene.
