Ole Miss football coach Lane Kiffin is headed to Baton Rouge after taking the LSU job.
Since he's taking the LSU job, he won't be able to stay with Ole Miss for the College Football Playoff. Why is that?
Well, Ole Miss wouldn't want Kiffin in the building trying to lead that team in the College Football Playoff while trying to build a staff and recruit for LSU at the same time. The conflict of interest and two-headed demands are real.
KIFFIN CHAOS: Lane Kiffin confirmed Ole Miss departure by trying to shift blame.
Kiffin would be stretched too thin while employed by two different schools. That's just not going to fly for Ole Miss... or LSU, for that matter. You can imagine the Tigers would want their new coach getting to work as soon as possible.
It's clear Kiffin wanted to have it both ways, but it just wasn't ever going to be the case. If he wanted the LSU job, he would most likely have to leave Ole Miss in the midst of a historic season. That's what happened.
