In each of their three previous games, the Titans appeared to be making some sort of progress.

The team didn’t win any of those contests, but all three of the losses were one-score defeats, by a combined 16 points at the hands of the Los Angeles Chargers, Houston and Seattle.

Contrast that with the Titans’ first seven losses, when the team had been getting pasted by an average of 17.3 points per contest.

In addition, rookie quarterback Cam Ward appeared to be making incremental strides, as he had completed over 60 percent of his passes in the three previous games, connecting for two touchdowns while throwing zero interceptions.

Then came Sunday’s 25-3 poleaxing by Jacksonville at Nissan Stadium, when any and all progress for the Titans and Ward came to a screeching halt.
