SEATTLE — A rerouted Seattle Marathon brought significant traffic disruptions across the city on Sunday, leaving many drivers — particularly those in Magnolia— stuck for extended periods as road closures and construction combined to choke off access.
Photos shared on social media showed backups stretching multiple blocks as marathon-related closures coincided with an already restricted network of streets.
As KING 5 reported Nov. 29, the marathon changed its traditional route this year because its usual finish line at Seattle Center’s Memorial Stadium is closed for construction — a shift that contributed to citywide traffic struggle on Nov. 30.
