CARMEL – Some 250,000 packages are stolen daily across the United States in what experts say is a $37 billion annual problem that costs both consumers and retailers with thefts increasing during the holiday shopping season as more people shop online.

Authorities say porch pirates have become more and more brazen even with a variety of home security cameras installed on many residences throughout the region in addition to a low risk of prosecution.
