After an onslaught of snow this week , Michiganders may be experiencing an icy mess on their sidewalks, driveways and steps.

When it comes to clearing ice and snow, homeowners should clear as much as possible before applying ice-melting products for the chemicals to work efficiently, according to Michigan State University

"Don’t oversalt; it's a waste," said David Leach, managing director of the Monroe County Road Commission.
