KILL DEVIL HILLS, N.C. (WITN) - One man is in stable condition after a Kill Devil Hills shooting Saturday night.
Around 10:15 p.m., police responded to a report of shots fired in the 1900 block of South Croatan Highway.
Officers found that 53-year-old Christopher Whitehead had been shot in the 100 block of East Fresh Pond Drive.
Suspect 40-year-old Timothy Drake remained nearby and cooperated fully with law enforcement.
Whitehead was provided medical care on the scene, then taken to The Outer Banks Health Hospital in Nags Head. He was later transferred to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital, where he remains in stable condition.
Drake is in custody and being charged with assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury. He’s being held at the Dare County Detention Center with a $15
