GREENVILLE, N.C. (WITN) - ECU police have identified a group of boys they believe are responsible for pointing a gun at a pedestrian on campus Thursday.
Officials say the initial report was for seven boys who were involved in pointing the gun at someone walking on the sidewalk on Cotanche Street near the ECU Eakin Student Recreation Center.
The following day, police say they identified the suspects after working alongside Greenville police.
They say the group ranged in age from 8 to 14 years old.
The ECU Police Department will work with the Office of Juvenile Justice on the investigation.
They believe the suspects used a BB gun that was modified by removing the orange safety tip, which made the weapon look more realistic.
