MELBY — A home sustained minor damage and a shed was a total loss following a fire in Melby on Nov. 30.

At 5:06 p.m. that day, the Douglas County Sheriff's Office received a 911 call about a shed fire on property belonging to Nicole Bertrand. The shed was fully engulfed and near the house.

When a deputy arrived, everyone was out of the home and safe, and Evansville Fire Department and Ashby Fire Department were able to extinguish the fire.

According to a press release from the Douglas County Sheriff's Office, Bertrand said a heat lamp was on in the shed, and she believed this was the cause of the fire.

Responding agencies were Douglas County Sheriff's Office, Evansville Fire Department, Ashby Fire Department and Ottertail Power Company.
