KALAMAZOO, Mich. — The Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety (KDPS) is investigating a non-fatal shooting on Douglas Avenue Sunday evening.
KDPS said they dispatched officers to the 1200 block of Douglas Avenue around 5:30 p.m. for a reported assault with a shovel and a shooting. When officers arrived on scene, they found a 49-year-old man suffering from a gunshot wound and a 60-year-old man who had fired the shot.
KDPS said it was the 60-year-old man who called 911 after shooting the 49-year-old man.
Investigators said that the 60-year-old man had been returning a ladder to a residence in the 1100 block of Douglas Avenue before the shooting. Law enforcement said that after the 60-year-old man returned the ladder, the 49-year-old man approached him with a shovel and told him to leave th
