For those who already believed Chase Reid was capable beyond his years, Monday’s news only strengthened that belief.
Reid, third in scoring among Ontario Hockey League defencemen, was the lone 17-year-old named to Team USA’s 28-player preliminary roster for the 2026 world junior championships. He’s one of 10 defencemen invited, joining fellow CHLers Henry Brzustewicz and Blake Fiddler.
In addition to being the youngest player in camp, Reid is also one of just three undrafted invitees — a group that includes defenceman Dakoda Rheaume-Mullen and goaltender AJ Reyelts — and one of only four players who didn’t take part in USA’s world junior summer showcase earlier this year.
