NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCSC) — The North Charleston Police Department has arrested a convicted felon after he was found carrying a gun.
Malik Desmond Washington, 26, is charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, according to jail records.
Officers responded to a report of gunshots on Arbutus Avenue just before 12:30 p.m. on Nov. 21. Upon arrival, a resident told police that he had heard gunshots, but did not see who was involved in the incident.
Officers later found several spent shell casings at the scene which led detectives to execute a search warrant at an apartment at Matipan Avenue, a little over a mile from Arbutus Avenue. Inside, detectives found a gun and arrested Washington.
