VIENNA, Ill. (KFVS) - A southern Illinois community temporarily lost water service on Monday morning, December 1.

According to the Vienna Police Department , an underground water main located behind the water treatment plant failed overnight.

This led to a total loss of water in the water tower and the city’s ability to pump water to residents.

They say the line has been repaired and the system lines and water tower are refilling.

According to police, it will take several hours before the system is refilled and the water pressure returns to normal.

As of Monday afternoon, a boil water order remains in place.
