Winter is getting off to a quick start with an already decent snowpack and bitter cold temperatures that look to hang on for a while.
Winter Weather Advisories remain in place for most of northern Illinois until midnight as snow will slowly taper off from west to east after dark. Untreated and less-traveled roads are becoming snow covered, so be careful if you are driving tonight through early Tuesday morning.
Tuesday stays dry but with bitter cold, despite some peeks of sunshine. Afternoon highs only reach the mid 20s with wind chills hanging around in the teens.
Wednesday struggles to reach the freezing mark ahead of a cold front ready to usher in another Arctic shot. Some snow showers may develop ahead of the front, leading to a potential dusting, but not much more than that.
