The search for Gilbert’s next town manager will focus on finding someone to guide the town through the transition from decades of rapid growth to long-term sustainability, officials said.

As Gilbert prepares for the Jan. 2 departure of Town Manager Patrick Banger, Town Council has appointed Assistant Town Manager Dawn Prince as interim manager during the process of finding his successor.

The council also selected a consultant to help lead the search: Slavin Management Consultants of Norcross, Georgia, the same firm that helped recruit Banger to Glendale.

Mayor Scott Anderson, who is leading the search subcommittee that includes council members Monte Lyons and Yung Koprowski, said the town is looking at probably six months to find the next town manager.
