Unai Emery is confident that Ollie Watkins will soon be back among the goals, saying the striker has his “complete confidence".

Watkins has scored just once in 19 appearances this season, netting the equaliser against Fulham, before Villa went on to secure their first Premier League win at the sixth attempt.

The weekend prior to beating Fulham , Villa drew 1-1 with 10-man Sunderland. Since then, however, they have won 11 of their 13 games across all competitions, claiming 21 points from 24 available in the league.

Watkins’ lack of goals has been a concern, and Donyell Malen was preferred by Emery to start against Wolves on Sunday.

“They are two very good players. They are both playing,” Emery said when asked if Malen is now ahead of Watkins in the pecking order.
