WATERLOO, Iowa — Voters in Black Hawk County are heading to the polls today to select the next mayor of Waterloo, as well as city council representatives for Waterloo and Cedar Falls.
The Black Hawk County Auditor has noted a higher-than-expected turnout for this runoff election.
At Central Christian Church, one of 10 voting sites open for today's election, a steady stream of voters has been observed.
The auditor reported that they are on track to surpass the turnout seen in November.
For this runoff, officials introduced changes aimed at increasing voter participation. Waterloo residents can now vote at any of the 10 locations citywide, providing added convenience.
"Vote centers are different in that anyone can vote in any of them. My hope is that we can fully staff them," said Karen
