“Trust the process” was the motto of the 2025 Wood River High School boys varsity soccer team, a memorable group of players that earned a 5A boys state championship.

Wood River (18-1-2) dominated the defending state champion Vallivue, of Caldwell, by a 5-0 score during the Oct. 25 state 5A final game in Nampa. The Wolverines captured their second state championship in three years and sixth state soccer title overall.

Third-year varsity coach Greg Gvozdas told his players during the team banquet, “Winning a state championship is extremely special for all those involved. It takes an entire community. It has given all of us a lifelong memory. This is a group I’ll never forget.”
