FORKED RIVER, N.J. (WMC) - A monkey who survived a truck crash in Mississippi in October is now living comfortably at an animal refuge.
Popcorn Park Animal Refuge in Forked River, New Jersey, says they have taken in the surviving monkey from the crash.
The rhesus macaque, now named Forrest, is one of 21 monkeys who were in the truck when it crashed on Interstate 59.
Many of those monkeys were shot and killed after they were deemed a danger to the public.
Several escaped, and Forrest was on the lam for days before his capture .
The animal refuge says because Forrest had spent so much time outside, he could not return to the research program.
Forrest is now acclimating to his new life with neighboring monkeys and caretakers.
