LOUISVILLE, Ky. — A new candidate is joining the race to fill the Senate seat being vacated by longtime U.S. Sen. Mitch McConnell, R-Ky.
In a campaign video, former Democratic State Rep. Charles Booker said Kentuckians deserve better as one reason he's running for the seat.
"So I ask you, what story would we write if we let ourselves dream again? The story I'd write is one where everyone in the commonwealth can prosper; one where government shows up for us instead of stomping on us," Booker said in a video announcing his campaign launch. "And when greedy industries and politicians try to steal our health and our wealth, we fight back."
The 41-year-old Louisville native served in the Kentucky House of Representatives from 2019 to 2021. In 2020, he ran for the chance to challenge McConnel
