This weekend, everybody can be Charlie Bucket.

Like the character in the classic film "Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory," all you need is a golden ticket, free at that, to enter the inaugural Cajun Con.

The brainchild of event producer Scott Innes, Cajun Con will bring together 85 pop culture stars, 200 vendors and myriad fans under one roof for two days at the Lamar-Dixon Expo Center, 9039 S. St. Landry Ave., Gonzales.

Agewise, those young enough to think Johnny Depp (2005) or even Timothée Chalamet (2023) was "Chocolate Factory's" first Willy Wonka and those old enough to know it was Gene Wilder (1971) will all have must-see stops at the generations-spanning event. And they'll probably share at least one.
