GAINESVILLE, Fla. (WCJB) - A Gainesville man was arrested for possession of a loaded AR-15 rifle while being on probation for prior felony convictions.

Alachua County Sheriff’s deputies say Adasian Armstrong, 20, was riding a scooter eastbound on Southwest 20th Avenue while wearing a full face mask Wednesday morning. Due to his reasonable suspicion of possible illegal activity, a deputy pulled him over.

They say Armstrong then jumped from the scooter and fled on foot, refusing commands from law enforcement to stop. Deputies tased him, and he continued to resist law enforcement before he was taken into custody.

Officials say they found a loaded AR-15 rifle in Armstrong’s backpack.
