KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — A Sevier County warrant provided details about an incident that led to a Knoxville police officer being charged with a felony.
Officials arrested 43-year-old Adam Barnett on Monday on an aggravated domestic assault charge, the Knoxville Police Department confirmed.
According to the warrant, the incident started with a verbal argument between Barnett and his ex-stepson. Barnett allegedly threatened to "choke/knock him out" before placing his ex-stepson in a chokehold. The victim said he lost consciousness and woke up on the floor, unsure of how long he'd been knocked out for.
A responding officer noted red marks on the victim’s neck, the warrant stated. Barnett was off-duty during the incident, according to KPD.
