TYLER, Texas — After making a plea to the community for help, the SPCA of East Texas leaders announced the nonprofit received over $130,000 in donations.

The nonprofit made the announcement Wednesday after they pleaded for help on Giving Tuesday, with Executive Director Emily Heglund saying giving this year would be "essential." The SPCA of East Texas shelters unhoused animals in East Texas, providing them with food and care until they can find their forever home. Due to the shortfall, the local SPCA was facing a cut to services or closure.
