BATON ROUGE, La. (WAFB) - A proposed plan to merge some of Baton Rouge’s emergency services has been canceled.
During a news conference on Wednesday, Dec. 3, Mayor-President Sid Edwards announced the merger between Emergency Medical Services (EMS) and the Baton Rouge Fire Department is not moving forward.
The mayor also said Interim Director of EMS Chris Landry would be the permanent director.

City-parish leaders originally announced the merger in June as an effort to streamline some emergency calls to first responders.
