SALEM, Va. (WDBJ) - Virginia Governor Glenn Youngkin is set to leave office in January. One of his top goals over the last four years has been to support the creation of lab school programs for high school students.
These are partnerships between higher education groups, such as colleges, and K-12 school divisions. The idea is to get younger students hands-on learning in specific fields.
15 of these specialty programs have opened across the state over the last two years. There are three in our hometowns, including: An IT program at Mountain Gateway Community College, a health care academy at Emory and Henry University and a dual enrollment program at Roanoke College.
