A woman died three days after a fall at Darlington Memorial Hospital left her with a traumatic brain injury, an inquest heard.

Shannon Scorer from Catterick Garrison suffered a fall at the Hollyhurst Road hospital on October 23, and was left with a mild traumatic brain injury.

The 30-year-old was subsequently taken to James Cook University Hospital for surgery, but died three days later on October 26.

An inquest into her death was opened on December 3, at Crook Coroners' Court and heard that Ms Scorer died from a bleed on the brain.

Coroners' officer Emily Bourne told the inquest: "I understand the circumstances to be that Ms Scorer was admitted to Darlington Memorial Hospital on October 23 where she had a fall on the ward resulting in a mild traumatic brain injury.
