Last week, West Bridgewater found Sprout , a 9-month-old severely neglected dog who was so weak that she could barely stand.
Now, West Bridgewater police plan summon Sprout’s owner, a 27-year-old Taunton Man, to face a charge of animal cruelty.
The police department announced its intention to summon the owner in an email on Friday. A spokesperson declined to offer details about the timeline of the summons. The department did not reveal the man’s name as a court has not issued a criminal complaint.
Sprout was found in the backseat of a car after police cited the vehicle for speeding, according to the Brockton-based Animal Protection Center of Southeastern Massachusetts.
