CARROLLTON TWP, MI — A Carrollton Township woman lost her life after a collision with a train.
About 9:43 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 4, Carrollton Township police and firefighters responded to the crash site on Carrollton Road just north of Stoker Drive. They arrived to find a white 2019 Jeep Renegade had been traveling north-northeast on Carrollton Road when it crashed head-on into the second engine of a train, said Police Chief Christopher Kellett.
The 63-year-old female driver and sole occupant was unconscious and pinned inside her Jeep, Kellett said. Once firefighter extricated her, she was taken to an area hospital but succumbed to her injuries, Kellett said.
Kellett did not disclose the woman’s name, citing the need to still notify her next of kin.
