MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — West Virginia University marked the 84th anniversary of the attack on Pearl Harbor on Friday morning with a solemn ceremony at the USS West Virginia mast and bell outside Oglebay Hall, bringing together veterans, ROTC cadets, active-duty service members, students and community members to remember the 2,403 Americans killed on Dec. 7, 1941.

Hosted by WVU’s Center for Veteran, Military and Family Programs, the event reinforced a longstanding campus tradition of honoring the lives lost during the surprise attack that launched the United States into World War II.
