NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) - Officers with the Metro Nashville Police Department are investigating a shooting near downtown Nashville.

MNPD said a man, working as a valet, was shot in the leg near 1 Music Square West, which is near multiple hotels and Broadway, just before 2 p.m. Friday.

Witnesses on scene said the victim was a valet for the Virgin Hotels, and they saw emergency responders load him into an ambulance.

Police said he was transported to Vanderbilt University Medical Center. He is expected to survive.

The suspect drove away in a gray Kia Optima with a blue Tennessee tag, per MNPD. Police believe he had a female passenger in the car.
