AVONDALE, Ariz. — A man was hit and killed by a train in Avondale on Friday, according to authorities.

The Avonale Police Department said the incident happened near Dysart Road and Main Street at around 3:30 p.m.

The man was rushed to the hospital in critical condition, where he later died. His name has not been released.

The Union Pacific Railroad train was a single-engine train with no cars.

Police said impairment is not a factor at this time.

No one else was hurt.
