The Jersey Diner & Restaurant in the Malaga section of Franklin Township has started construction on a new septic system, bringing the long-closed eatery closer to reopening its doors.

The restaurant, formerly known as the Malaga Diner, is located at the intersection of Routes 40 and 47 in Gloucester County.

The restaurant is anticipating an opening in early 2026.

The owner outlined a timeline for the work and eventual reopening in a recent social media post .

“Hello everyone, we are starting to update a septic system at the Jersey Diner,” the owner wrote. “The estimated time is four to five weeks. After that, we will need a couple weeks to clean up and get ready to open. Thank you for your patience.”
