A mum-of-one has been given a life-changing diagnosis just five months after marrying the love of her life. Sherri Mitchell and her husband Simon, who both work for Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service (MFRS), tied the knot in April this year after getting engaged in August 2024.

But their first year of marriage took an unexpected turn in September this year, when Sherri discovered a lump in her right breast. A sister and a close friend had recently found lumps and been checked, which prompted Sherri to examine herself.
