An off-duty police officer has been charged with DWI after he was reportedly found asleep in a car outside of McDonald's in Gaston County.
Belmont Police responded to a call at 12:30 a.m. Friday, Dec. 5.
The man was found unconscious in a vehicle in the drive-thru of the restaurant at 505 N. Main Street, Belmont, according to a press release from the department.
"When officers arrived, they discovered off-duty Belmont Police Officer James Reagan asleep in the driver’sseat of his personal vehicle," said the release.
A field investigation determined that Reagan was impaired.
He was arrested, booked then released on an unsecured bond.
Reagan, who is a Belmont Police School Resource Officer, has been with the department since Sept. 26, 2014.
