Adding to the long list of holiday events happening in Gaston County this month, The Little Theater of Gastonia will put on a production of “The Best Christmas Pageant Ever.”

Here’s what to know about the show.

The story

It follows the “‘outrageous’ Herdman children — ’the worst kids in the history of the world’ — as they unexpectedly end up in the annual church Christmas pageant,” according to a press release from the little theater. “What begins as chaos and comedy becomes a surprisingly meaningful retelling of the Christmas story that moves the entire community.”

The show is based on the book, “The Best Christmas Pageant Ever,” by Barbara Robinson.

“We are thrilled to share this timeless holiday favorite with our community,” the show’s director Ashleigh B. Curry said in the release
