Between lingering hugs with teammates, family members in the stands and coaches, many of the DHS players fought their own mini-battle with every step as they made a lengthy, winding trip to their locker room at TDECU Stadium on Friday night.

“It was hard. It was tough seeing everybody in stands and teammates hurting,’’ said senior Kaileb Peterson, who attempted to prolong his moments on the field before joining the team in the bowels of the stadium.
