INDIANAPOLIS – Last season, Indiana faced Louisville and got run out of the gym and completely embarrassed in the Cardinals' first season under coach Pat Kelsey. It was the beginning of the end for coach Mike Woodson's tenure, a signpost of exactly how far the Hoosiers were from fielding even a competitive team, let alone a good one.
A year later, despite IU changing coaches in the interim, nothing has changed. The Cardinals are still worlds better than the Hoosiers, to the point the teams don't particularly belong on the same court. Unlike with Woodson, today's Louisville rout is not going to get new coach Darian DeVries fired, but it certainly ends his honeymoon. He's now in the same position every Hoosiers coach has found themselves for the last 25 years: On the clock.
