IndiGo CEO Pieter Elbers said Friday, December 5 was the most impacted day in the ongoing operational disruption, with flight cancellations "well over a thousand." He said the situation was the result of "various causes" and that the measures implemented over the last few days "haven’t proved to be enough."
The airline is "rebooting systems and schedules" on Friday, leading to the highest number of cancellations so far. However, Elbers said cancellations on December 6 are expected to fall below 1,000, with further improvement anticipated on the following days. He added that it will take some time for operations to return to a fully normal state — which is expected between December 10 and 15.
