FORT COLLINS — Sometimes when you have two teams that are as evenly matched as top-seeded Windsor and second-seeded Pomona, an x-factor makes all the difference.
With the Class 3A state football championship game tied and just three seconds left, the Panthers revealed their x-factor.
And, that x-factor, junior kicker Chase Keaton, seemingly painted his own “X” right in between the uprights of the south goalposts at Canvas Stadium on the Colorado State University campus Saturday.
Keaton’s picture-perfect 40-yard field goal as time expired gave Pomona a dramatic 17-14 victory and the third state football title in its school’s history.
