CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (KCRG) - As much as 6.5 inches of snow fell across the TV9 viewing area from Saturday’s overnight snowstorm. At certain points throughout Sunday morning, nearly all of eastern Iowa’s major roadways were considered completely covered by the Department of Transportation.

More than 500 plows were active across the state working to clear roads as the snow fell. As the morning progresses, several major roadways, including Intestate 380, have been upgraded to partially covered.

While temperatures remain below freezing, drivers should still be cautious about ice forming on roads with or without snow.
