IOWA CITY, Iowa (KCRG) - On Sunday, Eastern Iowans were clearing out their sidewalks and driveways after a winter storm dropped inches of snow across the area.

But not everyone is able to shovel snow, that’s where volunteers with a new program called Winter Weather Warriors step in.

Paul Flanders spent his Sunday shoveling away as a volunteer.

He cleared snow from Rose Mann’s driveway and sidewalks. He will clear Mann’s house of snow throughout the snowy season.

Mann said she appreciates the help.

“I am very grateful because I lost my husband three months ago. And he was the one that would shovel my snow,” Mann said.

Flanders said he was looking for a way he could serve his community and jumped at this chance to help.
