A 27-year-old Allentown man died Sunday morning after he was ejected from his pickup truck when he crashed trying to elude state troopers he had struck with his vehicle, police said.

Troopers tried to pull over the unidentified man’s Ford F-150 in Allentown just after midnight, but he did not immediately stop, the Pennsylvania State Police said in a statement.

Eventually, the man did stop in the area of Lehigh and 29 th streets at 12:13 a.m., though when the two troopers exited their cruiser, police said, “the operator of the vehicle struck the troopers with his vehicle in an attempt to cause serious bodily injury to the troopers and fled the scene.”

The injured troopers got back in their patrol vehicle and pursued the pickup truck. The truck’s driver then lost control and struck
