LAREDO, Tex. (KGNS) - A Laredo man is facing charges after a hit-and-run crash where he allegedly impersonated a police officer.
Police say 48-year-old Rodolfo Rodarte Jr. was arrested Thursday, Dec. 4.
The incident took place on August 23, when officers responded to a crash on Chacon Street. A couple told police their parked truck was hit from behind by another vehicle.
They say the driver, identified as Rodarte, looked intoxicated and said he was a police officer. Rodarte allegedly showed a badge and claimed he was driving a city or county vehicle to federal court for a cartel case.
When the couple said they called the police, Rodarte drove off.
He is charged with striking an unattended vehicle and two counts of false identification as a police officer.
