HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - Dec. 20 marks Sakada Day in Hawaii.

The Philippine Celebrations Coordinating Committee of Hawaii, the University of Hawaii at Manoa Center for Philippine Studies and Filipino Curriculum Project invite the community to the Sakada Day Celebration 2025.

This annual gathering honors the resilience, contributions, and cultural legacy of Hawaii’s Filipino Sakadas, migrant plantation workers whose hard work, courage, and spirit continue to shape the Filipino American experience today.

It is a time to remember the contributions of Filipino plantation workers to Hawaii.

A special celebration takes place this Saturday, Dec. 13 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Hawaii’s Plantation Village in Waipahu.
