WEST HARTFORD, Conn. (WFSB) - Over 1,700 people braved the cold to take part in the 19th annual CLA Blue Back mitten run in West Hartford.
The last race of the season kicked off at blue back square at 10 a.m. on Saturday morning.
It didn’t matter how young or old, all ages turned out to take part in the 19th annual CLA Blue Back mitten run.
“Our mission is to finish together,” said Patty O’Brian. “We get out there and we move. Just keep moving.”
More than 1,700 people packed Blue Back Square for the Hartford Marathon Foundation’s holiday 5K tradition.
The mission behind the run: bring new hats, mittens and gloves to help keep neighbors in need warm this winter.
“We really encourage people just come or volunteer first even,” added Elizabeth Johnston with Hartford Marathon Foundation.
