ST. LOUIS, Mo. (First Alert 4) -The St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department’s Anti-Crime Task Force(ACTF) detained on Friday a 16-year-old boy who had escaped juvenile detention since November 24.
Undercover ACTF detectives spotted the juvenile trying to enter several homes by force. The detectives intervened and began a pedestrian stop. The teen tried to flee on foot and discarded a gun.
The gun was later recovered and the teen was detained. The weapon was a handgun with an extended magazine.
After the teen was arrested, he was transported to the Division of Youth Services. Detectives later learned the teen has been referred to the juvenile system 19 times.
Police say due to the teen’s age, no other information will be released.
