A 27-year-old man died after he was mowed down in the Bronx by an out-of-control BMW whose driver then crashed into a telephone pole and fled on foot, authorities said Sunday night.
Shariq Bryant was crossing E. 222nd St. near Boston Rd. in the middle of the block when a 2025 BMW M8 barreled into him just after midnight Saturday, police said.
After striking Bryant, the BMW-driver crashed into a telephone pole, then jumped out of the totaled vehicle and fled on foot — leaving behind an injured 28-year-old passenger in the car, authorities said.
Bryant sustained severe trauma to his body, police said. EMS rushed him to Jacobi Hospital , where he was pronounced dead.
The BMW passenger, who was riding shotgun, sustained minor injuries and was not hospitalized.
