Syracuse, N.Y. — A coffee shop in Syracuse’s Tipperary Hill neighborhood was damaged after a fire Sunday evening in an upstairs apartment, officials said.
The Recess Coffee shop at 429 Ulster St. had “significant” water damage after a fire in a second-floor apartment above the storefront, according to Elton Davis, the city’s executive deputy fire chief.
It was not immediately clear whether the coffee shop would open as usual Monday at 7 a.m.
The fire in the mixed-use property, where Recess Coffee is a tenant, was reported at about 9:25 p.m.
Firefighters found smoke and fire coming from one of the second-floor apartments when they arrived, Davis said. It took about 30 minutes to put out the fire, he said.
The apartment where the fire occurred suffered significant damage, Davis said. Th
