NEW DELHI : The prevalence of mental health disorders in the age group 13-17 years is about 7.3 per cent in 12 states, Minister of State for Health and Family Welfare Prataprao Jadhav said on Thursday while sharing findings of a National Mental Health Survey (NHMS).

He said the government launched a “National Tele Mental Health Programme” on October 10, 2022, to further improve access to quality mental health counselling and care services in the country.

Jadhav, in reply to a question in Lok Sabha, said as per the NMHS, 2015-16 of India conducted by the Government through the National Institute of Mental Health and Neurosciences (NIMHANS), Bengaluru, in 12 States, the prevalence of mental health disorders in the age group 13-17 years is about 7.3 per cent.
